NIKKI SHAH
Hi! Thank you for visiting.
While software engineering is my profession, visual arts is my passion. I have been intrigued by colors, paints, brushes and canvases for as long as I can remember. Anyone who has browsed through my art can say that it is influenced by India and its culture. To understand that more, let me take you on a brief journey through my life.
I was born in India and moved to the US at the age of ten. When the move happened, I gathered all the memories I had cherished, the images I had captured in my mind, the feelings I had felt and the emotions I did not know how to express, into a suitcase as they traveled across oceans with me.

Now, after almost 15 years, I still find myself looking for those sights, feelings, emotions...but alas, they are all just memories. Even when I go back to visit my home country, something is always lacking. I can never again see those satisfying sights or those warm feelings. Nothing is the same. Nostalgia hits hard for someone like me who wishes for things that no longer exist. Time changes all and everything. All we have left is memories and reminiscence.
Those first ten years in India were the best I have lived yet. They are the foundation of my core values, cultural appreciation and, most importantly, my identity. Therefore, nostalgia has been a big part of my life and, in turn, my art as well.
My art is a product of my longing to bring blurred memories back to life. I want to make art about events I want to remember, sights that captivate me, views that remind me of my roots and take me back through the unconscious memory lane.
It has been almost 25 years since I started on this journey of art. I have, do and will continue to grow and develop my passion. I hope you stick around for this ride :)
